First Bank of Berne donates to Swiss Heritage Society
February 14, 2011
Berne,
IN - First Bank of Berne recently made a generous donation to Swiss
Heritage Society of Berne. Shown above is Madelyn Wurster, Swiss
Heritage board member, accepting the check from Kent Liechty, president
of First Bank of Berne. Madelyn is in charge of Swiss Heritage Village
artifacts, and has been involved with the village since it's beginning
in 1985. The much needed donation dollars will be used for upcoming
museum renovations.
Chartered in 1985, the Village is now the largest outdoor museum in northern Indiana. This restored village depicts Berne's Swiss cultural and religious heritage. With 15 restored structures that date from 1860 to 1900, the Village is a representation of early life where a majority of early settlers were from Switzerland. The Heritage Festival is held here in September.
