Peru, Ind. – First Bank of Berne donated $5,000 to the Nickel Plate Trail. Receiving the donation is Mike Kuepper, President of the Nickel Plate Trail. Presenting the donation are Jennifer Ash, Peru Branch Manager; Jenilee Bransteter, Business Banking Manager; and Kent Liechty, First Bank of Berne President.

The Nickel Plate Trail is the 40+mile rail track trail that connects the communities of Kokomo, Cassville, Bennetts Switch, Miami, Bunker Hill, Peru, Denver, Deedsville, Birmingham, Macy, and Rochester. The trail offers a beautiful view of the Indiana countryside and is an ideal spot for walking, hiking, running, bicycling, and skating. The trail connects the community and is an essential community resource.

The money donated to The Nickel Plate Trail will go towards making sure it stays one of the best-looking trails in the Midwest. Keeping the trail nice takes mowing, weed control, spraying trail berms, asphalt crack repair, cleaning the trail of debris, bridge repair, and maintaining equipment. Donated funds will go to offset these costs and allow the Nickel Plate Trail to be enjoyed fully.

To donate or learn how to become a volunteer visit nickelplatetrail.org/volunteer-and-donate/. Nickel Plate Trail depends on donations from the community. Without help from the community, they are not able to maintain this incredible community resource.
