First Bank of Berne Donates to Jay County Public Library

April 02, 2026

Portland, IN. — First Bank of Berne is proud to support the Jay County Public Library with a donation to help further its mission to the Jay County community by delivering services and programs that meet the educational, recreational, and life needs of all Jay County residents.

The Jay County Public Library serves as a cornerstone of the community, providing access to educational resources, lifelong learning opportunities, and engaging programs for individuals and families of all ages. Through its services and outreach, the library supports literacy, learning, and connection throughout Jay County.

This donation from First Bank of Berne will help support the library’s Summer Programs, offering educational and recreational opportunities that encourage reading, creativity, and continued learning during the summer months. These programs help children and families stay engaged and inspired while school is out.

Representing the Jay County Public Library at the check presentation were Eric Hinderliter, Executive Director; Hannah Bradshaw, Adult Services Librarian; Shana Neuenschwander, Children’s Services Librarian. Representing First Bank of Berne were Tracy Carpenter, Portland Branch Manager and Isaac Gorrell, Berne Business Banker.

“We are pleased to support the Jay County Public Library and the positive impact it has on our community,” said Tracy Carpenter, Portland Branch Manager. “Their summer programs provide meaningful learning experiences for local families, and First Bank of Berne is proud to support these efforts.”
