Berne Ind. – First Bank of Berne donated $1,000 to South Adams Middle and High School STEM Club. Pictured (l to r) are Kent Liechty; First Bank of Berne President and CEO; Dakota Sprunger, South Adams STEM Club member; Calah Hill, South Adams STEM Club member; Kim Lefever, Project Lead the Way Teacher; and Bethany Bailey, Berne Branch Manager.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The STEM Club is involved in competitions and projects that encourage students to critically think and innovate solutions to problems. Students are learning how to be productive and increasing soft skills that are integral in the workforce.

The South Adams STEM Club plans to compete in the 2022 National TSA Conference in Dallas Texas. The money First Bank of Berne donated to the STEM Club will go towards offsetting the cost of this event. The STEM Club can raise money for computer updates and outfit their engineering and technology program with needed resources by honing their skills and entering competitions.

South Adams STEM Club relies on sponsorships to continue participation in conferences and competitions. To donate, contact South Adams High school or Kim LeFever at klefever@southadams.k12.in.us. To learn more about the STEM Club, visit their Facebook page at SA StemClub and Instagram at sastemclub.
